Political, business and family correspondence of Hartford, Connecticut, printers. Political topics include the election of Jefferson, and the triumph of Republicanism. Correspondents consist primarily of James Babcock, Charles Babcock, and Whiting Skinner. Numerous letters are between brothers James and Jonathan, and between James and his father Elisha. In at least one letter from Boston, James contemplated his future, fearing he had chosen the wrong profession.
